It is that time of the year: Christmas is in full swing! I don’t know about you but my Christmas shopping is complete (some even wrapped) and my Christmas list is ready. (Santa, I think I have been pretty good.) haha But seriously, I am that person that will think of random things I want throughout the year and add them to my a note in my phone. Things that I would never buy myself because I don’t really need them, or they are too pricey, or I just need ideas…you know the drill. This is the time when I can say, “yep, this is what I want.” And EVERY year for the past few years (probably five to be specific), I have had one thing on there that means more than the jewelry or clothes: my photo books from Artifact Uprising.
It is finally here! The first ever issue of The Graceful Guide! Y’all, this has been a dream of mine for a while. Over a year ago after I wrote The Graceful Guide to Alaska, I started dreaming about this project. I can remember completing that guide and thinking, “man this would be a cool idea for a fancy newsletter…” And so it began. I have dreamt up ideas of how it would work, how often I would create new issues, what they would include…you name it, I thought about it. But it was there that this idea came to a halt: in my thoughts. While I had these big dreams and big plans, I also had a voice in the back of my head telling me it was a dumb idea. That no one cared. No one would read it. I was not good at graphic design. I am not “big enough” for that yet. So per the usual…I let the voices win.
I have to say, I have a love-hate relationship with Halloween. Truth be told, I’ve always been a little “afraid” of the idea of it. I do not like haunted houses, or scary movies, or any of that non-sense. I am a scaredy-cat…I’ll admit it. BUT, what I do love about Halloween is dressing up. I LOVE when for just one night I can be something or someone else (for fun of course) and wander around asking for candy of all things. I have some of the best memories growing up from when my dad would take me trick-or-treating. My costume selection was all over the map also. I was Tinker Bell, the Pink Power Ranger, a black cat, and Darth Vader. All. Over. The. Map. But without a doubt every year, I had a blast.
I seriously cannot believe Easter is this weekend. Where is the time going? I feel like every time I look up, it is a month later than the last time I checked. I guess that is my fault as I keep myself super busy. Anyways, I know Easter is this weekend so you might already have an Easter dress ironed and ready to go, but I had to take a minute to share this lace number from Nordstrom with you all! This dress is definitely going to be my pick for the weekend, but it is also perfect for those spring/summer weddings you might have on the calendar. I obviously love the blush color (duh!), but the fit and the lace are perfect!
In the spirit of Christmas, I'm still working on gift guides! For this one though, I have a helper...and he's pretty great. Both Jon Luke and I worked together to put together this "Gift Guide for Him," because naturally, he needed to have a say in what you should get your guy for Christmas. But whether it's for your special someone, your brother, your dad or your best friend, keep reading to see some great gift ideas for him! Jon Luke might even make his writing debut here!
Happy Friday everyone! We did it, y'all. We made it to the end of the week and to DAY FIVE of Gracefully Taylored's Five Days of Fitness! Today, I want to tell you all about my Kayla Itsines BBG workout. I jumped on the Kayla train about three years ago and do not regret it one bit. I had seen her/her client's results on her Instagram account and always thought, "WOW! This is amazing," so I bought in to the craze. I bought the original Bikini Body Guide workout (before the App came out) and did the twelve weeks guide. Y'all...I saw serious results. Now I can buy the 12-24 week PDF or I can keep using the App but I love this workout!
It is finally here! The day (or weekend really) that we have all been waiting for...BLACK FRIDAY. While I am just as excited about this weekend as everyone else, I promise I was not waiting in line two in the morning, nor was I out last night. BUT, I have been on my computer plugging away at the sales so I have rounded up my favorites below!
Can you believe that tomorrow is Thanksgiving? I cannot! But it is here and I am excited! While I have been prepping for our Thanksgiving meal, I have also been prepping for those exciting Black Friday Deals! There are going to be so many great sales going on so be sure to stay tuned because I will definitely be doing a round up on the blog! In the mean time though, if you are anything like me, then you have already started your Christmas shopping. I mean, let's be real...I started mine months ago because I just want it to be done. That way, when the time comes I do not have to stress about gifts! So, for those of you who are like me, I have put together my first gift guide for the special ladies in your life. Whether it be your main gal, your bestie, your mom or sister, I have rounded up some great options of items that can go under the tree this year!
Lately, I have been obsessed with stars. And what better time to rock them than the Fourth of July! This is one of my favorite holidays because I associate three of my favorite things with it: Sunshine, food and fireworks. I mean a day by the pool or on the lake, cooking out and a firework show??? Yes please. This will be the first holiday that we are actually home on the Fourth of July in a long time. Last year we were in Las Vegas for Garth Brooks and the year before that we were in Houston for Garth Brooks (and yes we went this past Saturday haha), so it will be nice to be home! And apparently I should also associate my Fourth of Julys with Garth?
I am a sucker for all white. I love how crisp and clean it looks and definitely break the "fashion rules" to wear it all year round. Why waste such a great color on only a few short months? Not me. Well regardless of the rules, I love to break out a white dress for Easter. I am not typically one for pastels, though I have been loving blush lately, so white becomes my color of choice. And like I said, I feel really good about it.
I have to say, Jon Luke is a very patient man. He puts up with a lot being married to me. I know people say he knew what he signed up for, but at the same time, he continues to put up with it DAILY, which I am thankful for. One of the things I'm sure he gets tired of is the constant need for pictures. Whether we have to stop somewhere and take one (usually multiple times before I find one I like), I make him wait to eat his food, or I make him participate in full on shoots with me...I can guarantee you it is not something he looks forward to. BUT, he does it, and does it (most of the time) with a smile. This means more to me than I am sure he knows, and is one of the many reasons why he will be my forever Valentine.
Well hello 2017! I cannot believe we are now at the start of another year, but I am so ready to see what 2017 has in store for us. This past year was one of growth for Jon Luke and I, but I can feel that 2017 is going to be even better. I have set new goals for myself for this upcoming year and am excited to see where life leads me. Thank you for your continued support of Gracefully Taylored, and the love you have shown me through out this blogging journey! I hope you all had a safe and happy new year and are also looking forward to great things! Happy New Year everyone!!
New Year's Eve is always something I look forward to. A few years back, a friend of mine asked me what my plans were for New Year's Eve and I simply responded with a shrug of my shoulders. This did not sit well with her and when I asked why, her response was perfect. She said, "Taylor, you have to figure something out and do it confidently. If you sit at home or don't have a plan, then you are walking in to the new year blindly. But, if you walk in to the new year with your head high and a confident attitude, then you will be able to handle anything life throws your way, because that is how you started the year." Now do I think this means I have to be at the nicest party on New Year's Eve? Not at all. BUT, I do agree that whatever it is you decide to do for the holiday, do it confidently. Have fun, get a little wild, kiss someone at midnight. But be proud of you and what you have accomplished in 2016, and start 2017 off on the right foot, and with a ton of confidence.
This year we are spending Christmas with my family in Texas and even the little Murph man gets to come! I am so excited to be home and love that my little family comes together with my big family in celebration of the holidays. I have to say, I am extremely thankful for this little family of mine as they both put up with my daily need of pictures, love and matching plaid. These two boys mean the world to me and I wouldn't want to spend my Christmas with anyone else!
Well we are nearing the end of the gift guide season, but we cannot forget those handsome men in our lives right? Whether it be your husband, boyfriend, father or brother, they need a visit from Santa also. I have rounded up some ideas for those fellas in your life so it is not too late to get another gift under the tree! Happy shopping!
I have had a huge crush on metallic lately. The pleated, metallic mini is making a permanent home in my closet (as I have two now) and I am so happy about it. For our family photos in Gatlinburg we went with a neutral/burgundy/green theme and I was stumped as to what I was going to wear. I found this A.L.C. midi skirt and fell in love with the bronze shade. I love how it paired with the burgundy turtleneck and it worked beautifully for pictures!
Last week I shared with you all that we decided to design our Christmas cards with Mintedthis year (see here). Well they came in the mail and I LOVE THEM! They were printed so beautifully, both the cards and the addresses, and I cannot wait to send them to our loved ones. For now though I wanted to share the completed design with you!
A few months ago, I came across a picture on Instagram of the most perfect bundle of dainty bracelets. After some investigation, I found out that the company who produced these beauties is called Oak + Thread. It was not long before I was on their site filling up my shopping cart (I really think I had one of everything), picking out the pieces best suited for me. Their pieces are dainty and classic and are items I can wear every day (which I LOVE!). I ended up selecting a few for now, but will going back for more very soon. I think these will make great stocking stuffers for Christmas this year so you should head to Oak + Thread and check it out for the lovely ladies in your life!
It never fails every year we have a ton of holiday parties to attend. Some fancy, some casual but nonetheless, all festive. I feel like every year I find myself wearing similar things to each of these events, so this year I decided to switch it up. I wore this outfit when we went to Vegas a few weeks ago and was in love with it. While planning for one of our many festivities, I thought this would be a great (and different) option for my attire! I love the black and white with pops of burgundy as well the edgy feel this look brings with the slit up the front of the pants. Overall, I loved it and wanted to get some more wear out of this outfit so I mixed it in for the holidays!
